The van

Here's the honest bit: my van's a short-wheelbase Ford Transit Connect — around 2.9m³, roughly a 4-yard skip's worth. It's not built for a four-bedroom house move, and I won't pretend otherwise.

But for the jobs that don't need a huge lorry and a two-man crew, that's exactly why I'm cheaper. A single sofa, a few bits of furniture, a small flat, a Marketplace pickup, a garage clear-out — big firms charge big-van, two-man rates for those. I don't have that overhead, so you don't pay for it.

Sofas, mattresses and other upholstered items are charged extra and priced on inspection, as they cost significantly more to dispose of. Got old appliances or scrap metal? Fridges, washing machines and other metal can often be collected at a discount — just ask.
